While fishing a tournament on Lake West Point in GA, my partner recognized a sun baked bank that everyone else was flying right by.Remember to have fun!! It is easy for some of us to take fishing so seriously that it can take the fun out of it.When fishing from the bank try casting parallel to shore rather than straight out. Often times the fish are hiding/feeding in the near shore vegetation that is often cast right over. Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_191/ When fighting a big fish from a boat resist the urge to constantly ‘chase’ the fish. Use the boat to gain line initially when the fish is making long runs but when it slows down try to keep the boat just close enough to maintain a 45 degree angle on the line. This puts maximum pressure on the fish which means you stand a better chance of catching your fish of a lifetime. Today's Tip of the Day: http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_190/ Fish are opportunistic feeders usingeverything they can to ambush prey spending as little energy as possible. Look for points either exposed or submergedwhere fish may be laying waiting for a tasty morsel to swim by. Look for pinch points where bait is funneledmaking it easy for fish to feed and get ready to GET BIT!!]]> Fishing Tip of the Day http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_189/ Mono or Braid? Braid offers amazing strength vs. diameter making it easy to put the heat on big fish with smaller tackle but in some situations you need the stretch of mono. For instance, when throwing baits with small treble hooks, mono is a must to absorb head shakes keeping the hooks stuck home. http://www.getbitoutdoors.com/]]> Fishing Tip of the Day http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_188/ Tired of missing strikes and losing fish? Try adding a stinger hook if you are using bait, trimming your skirt if you are using a spinnerbait, downsizing your lure, or whatever you need to do to put the hook in the strike zone. Now the fish has no choice but to get a face full of hooks. Get Bit!! ]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_187/ Ever been in a situation where you know the fish are there, you’ve thrown everything at them but just cannot get them to eat? Try dead sticking a soft plastic. Make your cast, let the bait settle, twitch the bait and wait till you can’t stand it, wait some more, twitch it and repeat. It’s painful, but can trigger the most lethargic fish to eat even when they don’t want to.]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_186/ Drag tension- washersEver notice that the drag on your reel doesn’t seem as smooth as it used to? Chances are that your drag washers are worn and need to be replaced. Many reel manufacturers will replace drag washers for a small fee or you can do it yourself with a kit from smoothdrags.com. Don’t lose that fish of a lifetime due to a sticky drag!]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_185/ Take a Family Member or a Friend!! There is nothing more enjoyable than sharing a great day on the water with someone else!! Better Yet, take someone who doesn’t know much about fishing and focus on making their trip a success by putting down your rod to help them get hooked on the sport we all love!]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_184/ The next time you use livebait, try a loop knot. They allow your bait to swim freely adding more action to your bait. Big fish didn't get big by being dumb, try a loop knot and fool that monster you've been looking for. Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_183/ When the bite gets slow or when fishing in clear water try downsizing your line and leader. You may lose a few fish due to break offs but you can’t catch them if you can’t hook ‘em….]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_182/ Match the hatch! When on the water, pay attention to all life signs both in and around the water. If you see gulls diving you may want to use smaller lures because the fish are probably keeping small baitfish just like the gulls. When schools of mullet are present try and see what size they are and experiment with different colors based on the color of the water. Don’t ...]]> A Day on the Water Bass Fishing http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_181/ I had the pleasure of guiding my good friend Jay Striker, his wife, and daughter to a great day of Bass fishing on West Lake Toho. The morning started off with a very healthy 5-6 pounder spitting the hook at the boat as Jay's nine year old daughter Taylor about had a heart attack due to the size of the fish. We rounded the day out with some healthy of 2-3lbers and couldn't stop laughing about the look on Taylor's face when she saw her 'GIANT'. Another blessed day on the water ...]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_180/ Match your equipment to the task at hand. There is nothing more uncomfortable than fishing with an outfit where the rod and reel are mismatched. When purchasing a rod and reel ask your local tackle shop owner or feel free to give us a call @407-240-8331 and we’ll help dial you in so you can fish all day comfortably. ]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_179/ Always be sure to do a safety run down before you get on the water and show everyone where the safety equipment is located in the event of an emergency. A few minutes to do this can make a world of difference if things were to turn ugly. ]]> Fishing TIP OF THE DAY http://www.fisibook.com/forums/display_topic/id_178/ Eliminate unnecessary knots, swivels, and all other terminal tackle that are highly visible and create more opportunities for tackle failure!! Spend some time on the internet and learn how to tie your line directly to your leader. Unless you are trolling or fishing another type of application that may cause a lot of line twist, all a swivel does is tell the fish that something isn’t right.
